You’ll find great recommendations and you can earn a free summer reading t-shirt

We’ve created lists of great books, chosen by a panel of librarians,

educators, and book industry professionals, for kindergarteners to adults!.

• Summer Reading Program

Earn a great CLASSIC Summer Reading t-shirt just by reading - adults too!

Download the appropriate Reading Journal,  read the required number of books,

 turn in your completed journals between

July 14 and August 1, 2025, and the shirt is yours!

The Classic Summer of Reading Program is sponsored by our great partners

Shirts will be available for pick up after August 18 at the SDCL.

• Free Lunch for Kids 18 and under

This is our 7th year offering this awesome program with the YMCA Food & fun program.

Lunch is available Monday - Friday, 12 noon - 2 pm beginning May 27 and going through August 1st.

• Summer Lunch Programming:

Masterchef Mondays - Kids learn new cooking skills and recipes each week

Artsy Tuesdays - A different art project every week

Storytime Wednesdays - Great books, crafts, and a few surprises

Theater Thursdays - Movies, a magician, WTCI Green Screen Project,

the Chattanooga Zoo, the Tennessee Aquarium, and more

Free Book Fridays - Each Friday between May 30 and August 1,

during regular hours (11a - 4p), come into the SDCL to pick out a free

book to keep for your library - adults too!
