2024 FUNKY Summer of Reading

Join the Soddy-Daisy Community Library for our 2024 FUNKY Summer of Reading program! You’ll find great recommendations, you can earn a free summer reading t-shirt - and customize it with fabric paint, and meet some amazing authors!

• Summer Reading Recommendations - We’ve created lists of great

books, chosen by a panel of librarians, educators, and book industry

professionals, for kids PreK-12 AND Adults as well.

• Summer Reading Program - Earn a great FUNKY Summer Reading t-shirt

just for reading - adults too! Just download the appropriate Reading Journal, read the required number of books, turn in your completed journal, and the shirt is yours! Turn in your finished journals between

July 15 and August 2, 2024.

Shirts will be available for pick up between August 19 - 23 at the SDCL.

• Free Lunch for Kids 18 and under - this is our 6th year offering this

awesome program with the YMCA Food & fun program. Lunch is

available Monday - Friday, 12 noon - 2 pm beginning May 28 and going through August 2nd.

• Summer Lunch Programming:

Masterchef Mondays - Kids learn new cooking skills and recipes each week

Artsy Tuesdays - A different art project every week

Storytime Wednesdays - Great books, crafts, and a few surprises

Theater Thursdays - Movies, a magician, WTCI Green Screen Project,

the Chattanooga Zoo, the Tennessee Aquarium, and more

Free Book Fridays - Each Friday between May 31 and August 2,

during regular hours (11a - 4p), come into the SDCL to pick out a free

book to keep for your library - adults too!

• Summer Author Events - We have 11 different authors and speaker

events happening at your SDCL, ranging from children's picture books to

adult authors in the mystery, historical, and realistic fiction genres!
